Microsoft Windows 11
Windows 11 is the latest version of the Windows Operating System from Microsoft.
Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 10 after 14 October 2025. After this date, no software updates, including critical security fixes, will be provided, so any University PCs which are still using Windows 10, must be upgraded to Windows 11.
University Windows 11 PCs save your files to Microsoft OneDrive by default rather than your P:drive. If you’re using your P:drive, you must ensure your files are moved to your OneDrive before your upgrade, to ensure you will be prepared for the future decommissioning of the P:Drive service.
Library staff should contact the Library Digital Support team to arrange for their laptop upgrade, or use the Library sign-up sheet.
Student PCs in PC clusters will be upgraded during the summer break.
If your PC is already using Windows 11, you do not need to take any further action.
Arranging your upgrade
Staff and postgraduate researchers can choose a date and time to bring their University managed laptop to the Windows 11 Upgrade Hub in the Williamson Building. Desktop PC upgrades will follow at a later date.
