AppsAnywhere
Access software on cluster PCs via the AppsAnywhere Portal
Last updated: 14 October 2024
AppsAnywhere is the University's software portal for accessing IT Services-supported teaching and learning applications from cluster PCs. It functions like an 'app store', enabling users to browse all available software, whether streamed, or installed locally on cluster PCs.
While you can view all applications in AppsAnywhere, your ability to use them depends on whether the software is streamed or locally installed on the cluster you are using.
The University is introducing AppsAnywhere in phases, and this started with the launch in PC clusters in September 2024 as Phase 1.
Learn more about how it works:
- The AppsAnywhere portal automatically loads when a cluster PC is logged in.
- Our University Software Catalogue (please note: this document will automatically download) provides an A-Z listing of all available applications and details the PC cluster locations each application can be accessed from.
- You can find out how to access and use the applications by referring to the Quick Start guide, which covers logging in, finding, and opening applications.
Why have we introduced AppsAnywhere?
This service allows more flexible delivery of teaching and learning applications across campus and is the first step towards making them available on various devices including, in the future, personal devices.
Which software is available and where?
The AppsAnywhere portal gives you access to IT Services-supported teaching and learning applications. Although all these applications are listed in the AppsAnywhere portal, availability may vary depending on the PC cluster location, device type, licensing restrictions, export controls, and technical requirements.
- See the University Software Catalogue for more information.
As the 2024/25 academic year progresses, more applications will become available for streaming, making our 'open all hours' and accessible clusters even more convenient for students.
