Digitisation
The Library offers to digitise resources for inclusion in reading lists. Book chapters and journal articles, for example can be scanned and the digitised copy then linked to course modules. Allow 10 working days from request to delivery. A Good Practice Guide is available for the creation of course packs:
The University of Manchester Library has a world renowned collection of over 4 million items, including significant numbers of early printed books, archives and manuscripts. A large number of these items are already available in digital format and many more will be digitised in the future. The Centre for Heritage Imaging and Collection Care (CHICC) provide digital image hosting, collection care and support for the digitisation of photographs.
Digitised material for reading lists must adhere to Guidance on what can be copied under the terms of CLA Higher Education Scanning Licence.
General digitisation support can be provided to anyone from an educational institution.
Requests for CHICC images can be made by anyone, including the general public.
Media digitisation request can be made via My Manchester. Go to the Library tab then look for 'Library Requests', select the 'Digitisation' tab and 'Start New Request'.

Material submitted via eScolar is automatically digitally preserved, free of charge.
Digitisation for staff is provided free of charge.
External customers will be charged for services offered by the CHICC service within the Heritage Imaging Team. This can include digitisation.
