Personal web pages
Personal web pages allow users to create websites and publish them on the internet. The intended purpose is to allow staff and students to promote their academic activities quickly and informally.
You may also publish non-academic information which may be of interest but you must conform to the guidelines for the use of personal web pages, which can be found here:
An overview of profile, personal web page and publication information is available via the ‘Academic profile’ option on Teaching and Learning tab in My Manchester.
Please note: there are additional options for publishing research profiles which differ between faculties. For more information see the Online Staff and Online Research profiles.
On every P:Drive there is a folder called 'public_html' which is created by default for all users.
Create your home page and call the file 'default.htm'. Put the file in the public_html folder.
You will now be able to access your personal web page go typing the address:
http://personalpages.manchester.ac.uk/[staff/student/postgrad]/[first name].[surname]
e.g.
http://personalpages.manchester.ac.uk/staff/frederick.smith
or

or
