Sharepoint team areas

SharePoint is a web-based tool for document management, sharing and collaborating online. It is for University staff and research postgraduates to share documents in a secure and managed environment.

Collaboration tools include blogs, wikis, discussion boards, announcements.

Staff can share information internally and also with external non-University members.

Information can be accessed via a web browser, and secured for groups or individuals to a granular level.

Restrictions

There are a number of restrictions of file types and sizes compatible with this service. Please refer to the Document Management Guidance for further information:

Day to day site maintenance is the customer’s responsibility.

We will not support unless agreed with the SharePoint Manager the following:

  • Custom HTML development
  • Custom CSS development
  • Custom JavaScript development
  • Third party Web parts

Access information

SharePoint business solutions are available as the following:

  • Standard implementation (small work request)
  • Implementation project with enhancement
  • Application development project
  • Core enhancement project

To request a SharePoint Team Area, you should complete a request form in which we will capture all the needed requirements for requesting a Team Area:

Your IT Partner will have sight of all enquiries coming into their Faculty.

SharePoint Team Areas are also available and accessible to external users outside the University as a collaboration tool:

All requests for support are logged into the University's IT Services Support Centre.

SharePoint users requiring help should contact the IT Services Support Centre in the first instance. Support Centre analysts will refer queries to the SharePoint team where necessary.
