Telephone accessories and sockets
The IT Services Telecoms office manages the installation and activating of telephone sockets and associated cabling. Socket installations can be as simple as activating an existing socket or moving telephone numbers following an office move, to the installation of an entire telecoms infrastructure in a new University building.
Telecoms also manage the purchasing and distribution for all handsets and accessories. University telephones and accessories must be purchased via the Telecoms office.
Charges apply for telephone, socket installation, connections and provision of telephone numbers. The current price list and available telephone can be found on the Telecoms website.
Telephone Liaison Officers (TLO) keep records of available telephone numbers and recycled telephone handsets. In circumstances where reuse of equipment is possible, no charge is necessary. TLOs also keep track of staff changes where telephone numbers, handsets or accessories can be recycled.
Requests to move a telephone number, activate or install individual sockets or to purchase handsets or accessories should be made to your local TLO. Contact the Telecoms team for the name your TLO telecoms-services@manchester.ac.uk if you do not know who they are.
For large Telecoms infrastructure projects the Telecoms team can also be contacted at the above email.
